With modular expansion, accurate dosing control, compact size, flexible scheduling and WiFi control, the Kamoer X1 Pro 2 dosing pump is a good option for automating aquarium care . It's tricky to set up though, as it only works with WiFi at 2.4GHz. I figured this would be easy because I have two wireless networks, a state of the art dual band high speed network and a 2.4GHz guest network. A long time ago I set up a guest network for a device that couldn't work with dual-band routers. But I have since replaced my main router. At the time of the exchange, I was not aware that the guest network had been "upgraded" to 5 GHz. After about 7000 unsuccessful attempts to set up the Kamoer device, I ran a network analyzer and found the problem. In fact, I had two guest networks with the same name, both running at high speed. I disabled one of the networks and reconfigured the other to 2.4GHz. Now I could set up Kamoer with my phone. The phone's interface is a bit complicated, but patience prevails. The device required two firmware updates in a row, after which it went to the races. Right now I'm 3D printing a bracket to hang on my tank. I haven't calibrated the dispenser yet, but I'm optimistic. If I find any surprises during calibration, installation and operation, I will update this review. [A few days later...] Calibration was easy, but after setting up two pumps I'm still having trouble with the scheduling interface. Best advice: Sit in a comfortable chair and take your time. I think the pump itself is a great piece of engineering and the app is powerful and flexible, but you have to work your way through the interface to set the schedule. Kamoer provides an online manual which is somewhat helpful (search "Kamoer X1 PRO 2 User Manual” on the internet), but the interface is complex and the manual doesn't fully explain it. By the way, if you want to connect two or more pumps in series, a power supply, the cable you need is a power cord with two plugs, inner diameter 2.1mm, outer diameter 5.5mm. [Months later...] The pumps are still working great. But if you need to make adjustments, logging into the IOS app is pretty terrible. A nice note: the pumps are now available on my main WiFi network, so Camoer removed the original WiFi restriction. But if the app asks you to sign in, you're going to have a bad experience. My approach: Sign up by phone number, not email. Set the correct international prefix. Enter your password and cross your fingers. If the login fails, you'll be stuck on a screen with no apparent exit. In this case I will uninstall the app, reinstall it and try again. Once the application has you in, the controls are complex but very effective.
