Review on Power Bright APS1000-12 Pure Sine Power Inverter 1000W Continuous / 2000W Peak 12V DC to 120V AC by David Alvarado

Update 26th August 2014: I originally thought it was a great inverter based on my old review below. But that's when I tested it for a few minutes here and a few minutes there. Now that my solar system was actually up and running, it literally burned out after just a week of operation! It caught fire, lots of smoke and flames came out of the vents, and what a stench! Because of the smoke, my wife lost her voice and we had to ventilate the room by opening all the doors and windows to draw out the smoke. Used it to watch TV and smelled a "funny smell". Everything turned off and the smell continued, then smoke and flames came out of the inverter, then finally the "overload" light and alarm went on (a bit late if you ask me). But on the other hand I called Power Bright and since it's under warranty I only have to pay shipping to get it repaired or a new unit. Let's see how it works and then come back to my review. Old review from 04/26/2014 (outdated) --> This is a great inverter! I bought and bought an inverter online and finally settled on this one. I've been using it for about a month now and so far so good. I usually use something like a variable speed drill and it works great. I tested it with audio devices and it makes almost no noise. Almost the entire body is a large heat sink. And it has a fan. But so far it has never gotten hot enough to turn on the fan. Looks like a very well made unit.
