Review on Submersible Energy Efficient Controller Thermostat Thermometer by Dawn Price

Then great for 6 weeks.

I had this heater in my 10 gallon panda shrimp and fish tank. About 2 months after purchase, I noticed while walking by that my pandas, who usually swim playfully and chase each other, are sitting still and breathing fast. When I opened the jar lid, I felt the warmth emanating from the water. I immediately checked the water temperature with an infrared thermometer and found it to be 93°. I immediately turned off the heater and took it out of the tank. The heater was so hot that my fingertips blistered in the short time it took me to take it off. I think given the heat of the heater I should have found it fairly quickly after it went out. I was very fortunate that neither my shrimp nor the Artemia showed any permanent signs of damage, but I decided to increase the room temperature to 76° and let the aquariums adjust to the temperature to avoid risking my fish being killed by a other defect heating . Our large aquarium in the living room still has 2 heaters but they are controlled by an Inkbird ITC-306T thermostat. So if one of the heaters fails, the power supply to the heater is shut off. I wish this was a standard feature on all heaters. For most people, an aquarium heater is the only solution available to maintain a stable environment for your fish. Just be aware that they don't work properly and there are ways to protect your fish.
