I use filter fibers from time to time to clean my water. It did a good job. Inexpensive and easily replaceable. The only problem is that every now and then a small piece will slip away in your aquarium. No matter how you compress it. However, it is worth polishing the water. I would recommend getting the filter fiber in a sheet that can be easily cut and placed inside the filter. This way you don't have to worry about the seal or possible debris flying out of your HOB filter. If you prefer this shape, this is a quality product.
