Review on πŸ”§ Prestacycle Prestaratchet: Advanced Cycling Tool for Quick and Easy Repairs by Adam Webbie

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Amazing quality, I want to give it 10 stars!

I have both the Topeak Ratchet Rocket and the Great Neck Mini Ratchet. That shames both of them. It weighs less than both (29.0g), has a great smooth surface and superior action (identical to the Great Neck ratchet but with a cleaner, sharper surface and therefore smoother action) and great design. The slight tilt of the head makes it ideal for hard-to-reach places. The rated torque (60Nm) is much more than I can apply manually, which is perfect. Convenient position of the direction switch on the head; won't accidentally tip over, and it's easy (but not too easy) to switch. The bit locking mechanism is excellent. The ratchet actually has 52 teeth, which is more than enough for most situations, but small enough that durability should be a matter of years to come, even if you're fidgeting. impossible to do by hand) to shrink my ratchet and drill a lanyard hole in the end. Now it only weighs 20.0 grams. In addition, it fits perfectly on most Leatherman bits (just make sure you line up the corners with the spring that holds the bit). I plan to buy a few more for every toolbox I have. If there was a high quality stainless steel or otherwise corrosion resistant version, I'd happily pay a fortune for it. I travel a lot where I use it for small repairs at work and also when mountain biking so it's part of my EDC. The ratchet appears to be chrome vanadium steel (extremely durable but prone to rusting) with a black oxide coating (to prevent rusting) and the handle looks like a highly polished 300 series stainless steel, so we'll see how It's going ok. I wouldn't buy any other ratchet unless I need it for something more (don't try to take a car wheel off of this; you need 80Nm of torque as a bare minimum).

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • old
