I cook A LOT of bacon (5+ pounds a week) and use it every time with no problem. I only have my hand over it to "test" it and I've never been splashed all over it. I'd say it stops at over 97%, but that's a very good result. I hadn't splattered anything, but I usually cook with bacon grease too (maybe it's too big to go through?). Perfect fit for my 10.25 cast iron house with lots of rims. It has bumps on the edge so you can put it down without getting it dirty. The handle has never felt hot. I accidentally put it on a burner and it ignited all the bacon grease and left a nice trail on the screen, but that only affects aesthetics, not functionality - so keep an eye on that if you're interested . I would buy again.
