It might be a good starter and maybe I just got a lemon but I don't recommend it. The truck was parked for a few days and when I came back to start it my battery was completely dead (<3V). It somehow seems like the solenoid/starter shorted out and completely drained my battery. Not realizing this had happened, I tried to start my truck and immediately smelled melting plastic/electronics (the starter never turned). And since the starter got hot when trying to jump start, I'm a little surprised my truck didn't catch fire. If you look at the post connecting the solenoid and starter you can see that it is black/burnt. It was maybe $50 cheaper than my local parts store, but I ended up being an hour from my tools. and much more. Update 1: I just had a second starter failure on almost the same property leading me to believe that a problem outside of the starter could be causing a premature failure. I'll update my results when I know more. It could actually be a good starter killed by a faulty ignition switch or wiring. Currently I'm changing to 4 stars as there's a good chance this isn't due to the starter. Update 2 - The second starter didn't fail, I just had no contact in the ignition lock. I don't think a bad switch and a bad starter are related. It's still possible that something outside of the old man melted him, but I'm skeptical. Downgrade to two stars.
