I used this stone for the final mirror polish on a cpm s1110v blade. It is one of the toughest, if not the most wear-resistant, knife steels money can buy. I've been chopping by hand for a little over 50 years. At that time, all you had was hand sharpening with corundum or Arkansas stones. I wanted to experiment with sharpening other than diamond to get closer to that. Then finish to a high gloss. I also have a 3 carat ruby cut as a final step before using this stone. Results. I would suggest using diamonds on the high quality steel they have today to save time and effort. Then finish with this agate sharpener. Also, I would recommend getting this sharpener in the largest size as well, as I find it much more handy for sharpening pocket knives.
