Review on ๐Ÿ” Improved SEO: Triple Eight ExoSkin Elbow Pad - Enhanced Performance and Protection by Gavin Dunne

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Saved me several times Glad I bought it

I have both a knee and an elbow. This rating applies to both. BOTTOM LINE - A little crowded and a little hot in warm weather but stay put and saved me many times. I'm so glad I bought them and will buy them again. SIZE - First. You may want to increase the size. I'm tall and slim (5ft 11ft, skinny arms and legs). I'm almost always comfortable carrying a cure for such things. I bought the medium and they are tight. Very tight! They are so tight I almost sent them back. In the end I decided to keep it and rode it over 100 miles with ease. They have loosened up a bit but are still quite tight. The elbow pads are quite tight, with them it is inconvenient to bend the arm more than 90 degrees. Of course, being a little tense also has a positive side. These pads don't move at all. They stay in place when riding and I've ridden them a few times and they haven't moved. COMFORT - The first ride or two was a bit uncomfortable. The pads weren't necessarily hard, but it did take some time to relax a bit. Currently I don't even know they are included. I've been trail riding regularly for over 1.5 hours with no complaints. My only problem is comfort. They are quite crowded and are hot in the summer. I've learned to deal with the heat in exchange for protection, but it sucks on very hot days. We had a full week in the 100 degree range last summer and I decided to leave the pads at home. Well I went down a corner that was slippery due to very dry conditions. I wasn't hurt but I was quite scratched where a knee pad might have been. Lesson learned. PROTECTION. These pads are not designed for descending and will not protect you in the event of a serious accident on rough terrain. However, they are well padded and provide good protection from impact and abrasion in most normal off-road riding situations. I started mountain biking in early 2015 and bought these after my first real fall. I continued to test my skills and have descended with them several times since. These pads have saved me every time. I still had bumps and bruises, but every time I was able to get up and keep going. DURABILITY - The pads have withstood abuse. They still look mostly new with no rips or stains (even after saving my ass a few times). As I said, they are tight and the straps stretch as much as possible every time I put them on. So the straps and velcro are a bit worn but nothing major. They also seem like something I could easily fix myself in due course.

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
