My favorite smart switch solution

I have three of these Enerwave relays (one single and two double). They work as advertised with Smartthings. I like that this keeps the standard switch working normally and also allows for smart control. The main thing I didn't understand before installing it is how the switch behaves after installing it. I had a single switch so the top was always on and the bottom was always off. So much so that my physical switch is labeled "on" and "off" on the toggle switch. Once you install the relay behind the switch, the single switch behaves like a three-position switch. Up and down no longer indicate light/fan status. You just have to flip the switch to change the state of the light/fan. I have 2 Honeywell/Jaysco derailleurs that solve the position issue by being spring loaded so the derailleur deflects up or down and returns to center. Honeywell is much larger and slightly different from the standard switch. My wife was a bit annoyed with Honeywell, but she couldn't tell Enerwave was installed. Enerwave looks like the same old Switch because it's the same old Switch. The dual relays work just as well with the required device handler in SmartThings. The price of a pack of two relays 2 is better than a single one in terms of unit price. The dual relay is only slightly larger than the single relay, so I would buy a dual relay in the future even if I only had one switch to control. You can change the configuration in the future and you are done with the second relay. My electrician friend told me that this works with 3 position switches if you put it in the box both hot and under load. In one of my setups I had a hot and a load in the box so both physical switches work and the relay works. In other scenarios I didn't have both in the same box so I couldn't get it to work. Let's just say that in some cases it will work with three position switches. As they say, your mileage may vary. Flush mount with any switch or outlet. This is not a rocket operation but may not be available to some. Always turn off the switch when working on anything. An electrician should be able to install this easily if you get stuck. Everything says this is a solid addition to my Smartthings home. My new favorite is smart lighting and fan automation.
