Review on APEC Certified Alkaline Water RO PH90 by Lacey Mendoza

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Look no further in this price range!

This is my second RO-PH90 system. In my opinion simply one of the best systems on the market. Uses original Dow Filmtec reverse osmosis membrane. As anyone familiar with reverse osmosis technology knows, Filmtec membranes are the gold standard and are among the top performers in terms of rejection. This is not your regular hardware store RO bought, although some big chains sell it. Intake TDS = 225 ppm, exhaust TDS = 15-20 ppm. does the job. RH has not been tested yet. The water tastes great, just like my first system. Change your pre-filters once a year or at the recommended %TDS intervals and expect this reverse osmosis membrane to last a full 3-5 year schedule. It is very important. In my opinion the input water pressure needs to be at least 50psi for this system to work as intended. At 75psi, the outlet pressure is to die for, even with standard 1/4" tubing. Fills jars quickly. Consider upgrading to a 3/8" outlet if your inlet pressure fluctuates around 50psi, as it does at was the case with my first unit. Reverse osmosis systems operate on inlet water pressure, this is the most important aspect of the setup! Don't miss it At this point I needed a booster pump, the inlet pressure was 40psi at best, follow each step carefully and there should be no problems Available on their website prior to purchase so you know what items and skills are required Anyone with a few tools and a willful attitude will have no problem Easy to find the Aquatec CDP6800 kit on Ebay for $108, the is perfect for this system. Supplied with all required plumbing, pressure gauge, shut-off solenoid, pressure switch, pump and transformer. Be sure to purchase one Install a sump filter before the pump if you want it to last a long time. Of course APEC also offers a version pre-equipped with either a permeate or booster pump, although I believe you will need your own pressure gauge. Don't buy a Revain output kit here and don't expect it to fit your device's PH filter, it won't. It's only for 5 stage filters. Then you need to buy a 3/8 inch PH filter from APEC, about $40. Save time and money by going through the upgrade route directly through APEC. Nothing more to say, please READ the manual and you will not have to think about this system but several times a year for TDS tests and scheduled filter changes. Much luck!
