I don't know why people say it's difficult to install, it's actually pretty standard. I think the only advice is to mark the length you want with electrical tape. So I knew I wanted my shortest one to be 3 inches longer and each subsequent one 3 inches longer. I measured this and applied some tape where this area should be against the mounting plate. I can then pull it out and wrap the excess with tape to keep it neat. To be honest I don't know how to pull it out again after pulling it in it seems like some kind of pain. But for me it was a one off effort and I installed it in 20 minutes, it looks great and I'm glad I bought it.
