I've been playing rhythm games with guitar shaped controllers for ages. Way back when Guitar Hero 1 came out, the concept of playing a plastic 5 button guitar and acting out your rock fantasies with little to no practice was too cool to handle. Then came the rock band. Suddenly your rock fantasies became more real because you could live them out with all your friends and pretend you were actually a band. It was wonderful! In 2011, this concept was outdated. They needed something new to shake up the genre and just when I thought I couldn't, BAM! Rock Band Keyboard! In Standard mode (whatever it's called) it plays like a guitar controller. You have 5 buttons, one per finger, and you press them as they slide towards you on the screen. The real magic of this controller unfolds in Pro Keys mode! In Pro Keys mode, play each note on the keyboard. The fretboard becomes a speck of tiny notes as you frantically fumble for the keys. That's great. It really makes you feel like you can play the keyboard, as opposed to the 5-key approach found on guitars. I don't have a professional guitar yet but one day I'll break down and throw all my money into one because if there is such a thing I know I want one! Attention folks, your rock fantasies have gotten a lot broader. real.
