For those of you with a 2018 iPad Pro 12.9" USB-C (DisplayPort mode) connection to the 27" Apple Cinema Display Mini-DisplayPort didn't work. After reading the description, it seems so. Unless I'm doing something completely wrong, the screen won't turn on. I've tried everything... including extra lining. nada. I want to save someone else the drama of having to try this. I ended up sending it back but I have to say that it physically arrived in a nice box with good packaging and the cable itself looked solid. I suppose , the iPad Pro can't directly drive the required output? My workaround was to connect an HDMI to DisplayPort adapter (active with USB-A for power) to the Apple TV HD close which I had and AirPlaying on it instead. In fact, it worked better because I can use my Apple TV with Cinema Display just fine! I even use Airplay 2 audio on my HomePod speakers, which sounds amazing (although I can confirm it was outputting through the built-in Cinema Display speakers if you want that route). I'm using YouTube TV and the Apple TV showed all content in 60Hz 1080p on the Cinema Display. It appears that "screen mirroring" is selective - in other words, web/email appears to be 720p, but when I create 1080p video content or use a supported second display app, it upscales to 1080. ? I do not know why? For me, trying to change my Apple TV settings to 1080p resulted in a blank screen and it came back... it only worked at 720p, although as mentioned some apps (like YouTube TV) showed 1080p when I activated statistics. Take a few minutes to share this. Rating like me because this information could be clearer to discourage others from buying as advertised and it doesn't work. I hope this will be helpful to other interested parties.
