Review on Art Alternatives Sketches in the Making Very Big Hardcover Sketchbook: Giant Black Sketchbook with 600 Pages (300 Sheets) by Carla Anderson

It's more than you think. THIS IS HUGE.

Wow! It's huge! I bought it because I'm an avid journalist. I had to use 3 smaller magazines that are usually only used for this year's coverage, so I was looking for something much bigger. Boy I got it! In addition to my usual daily journal, I am answering 365 introspection questions in 2020, so I need plenty of writing space. 600 pages should be enough! I won't necessarily be able to carry it around, it's so heavy, but I can handle it. I use it for journaling and a bit of drawing, but mostly just writing and pasting stuff on the pages. The pages are thick enough for my purposes. I wouldn't use a permanent marker in it, but it looks like markers, regular pencils, and watercolor pencils work just fine and don't bleed. The binding seems strong enough, although I can see where the weight of the pages can cause the binding to break. Overall I am happy with this purchase! If all goes well this year, I will buy more next year. I saw several reviews where it arrived damaged. I don't necessarily think this is the fault of the product manufacturers, but they should consider putting some form of protection on the pages. When mine was packed it was alone in the box with no bubble wrap or anything. If other items were packaged with it they would damage the sides and I would have to return it.

Pros
  • Art paper
Cons
  • So far so good
