This part costs significantly less than the type that gets you a new cover every time. I put fully synthetic turbo diesel oil in my 2008 Ford F-250, 6.4 liter engine. I change the filter every 5,000 km and again with an oil change every 10,000 km. I know the oil can last up to 15,000 miles but I live in Montana and due to the inclement weather here I change it every 10,000 miles. I also do a lot of short trips. If I went back to California I would change the filter at 10,000 and replace it with a new filter at 15,000. I note that the filter comes with a new rubber sealing ring for the lid.
