Review on Clore Automotive PL2320: Smart Charger, Battery Maintainer, & Desulfator with Temperature Compensation (6V/12V, 20-Amp) by Matthew Rodenbaugh

I bought this charger to replace a Schumacher I've had since the 1970's that still worked but didn't have the features of newer devices. I had high hopes for this charger based on the many positive reviews. I read the manual and plugged it in, but when I plugged it in there was a loud "POP" and a bright blue arc of light showing through the vents. The charger was then completely dead and I sent it back. I won't buy any other. It felt too light and flimsy and was made in Vietnam. Luckily it didn't damage the battery I was trying to charge. I replaced it with a Schumacher SC1281 which is much more powerful, about 3 times the weight, made in the USA and $7 cheaper. It worked perfectly. I should have stayed with Schumacher from the start.
