This has been a great heater for my garage and here are some details on a unit that I've had a hard time finding elsewhere. (I paid about $168) 1) Each shade can be moved independently. 2) The fins will get warm in use but not too hot to be moved by hand when the unit is set at 6000w. 3) It will NOT get hot. behind the unit, although I believe the instructions call for 4 inches behind the unit. (Also, the instructions say it has to be at least 8 feet off the ground! - I didn't get it. I have slightly less). 4) Recess on rear panel - 3/4 inch. 5) I easily found a 35 amp switch (Square D) and used 8 gauge wire (both per install recommendations). % more AMPS than the math shows). If I deviated from this I would always use 8 gauge wire but a 30 amp switch. Never use a 40A breaker with a 10A wire. You always want your breaker to trip before the wire overheats, so never use a smaller gauge wire. " anchors, no snap screws. I was unfamiliar with using sleeve anchors and had a bad setup trying to use m. (I drilled a 1/2 hole since the sleeves are 1/2" were but I feel like 15/32 would be better but I didn't have a 15/32 drill) When I tightened the anchors it felt like they were stretching too much so I stopped tightening them. I suspected that the anchor sleeves were only used for concrete so I researched the problem and now I think it's correct. Need to replace them with bolts. Why they put anchor sleeves instead of bolts I don't understand. But if you put a concrete beam in in the garage you'll be good to go! 7) Rheostat/Temperature Switch Adjustment Knob is very useful but has a lot of play. For example, if you want to turn off the device while it is running, you have to turn the knob quite a bit before the device turns off (the rim of the knob rotates 3/4 inch in an arc before the device turns off). device switched off). The same applies to forced inclusion. However, once installed, it tends to maintain the temperature I've been looking for. 8) Finally, my garage design is typical. I insulated the walls and left the ceiling uninsulated, ventilation at the eaves and ridge. Apparently, the ridge ventilation gives off a lot of heat and attracts cold at the eaves. Although this unit heats my 360 sq. ft. Feet, on a very cold day I wouldn't want less. I'm glad I went with 6000 watts instead of 4000 or 5000. On a 45 degree day while being physically active, I used an initial warm up at 6000 watts and then 3000 watts at a low intermittent setting. Haven't used it on a 10 degree day yet but will be happy to have 6000 watts when I do.
