Works well in a metal walled garage.

The heater works very well in this garage. I set it up so a 6ft person could easily reach the controls, but it's tall enough not to get in the way. I added a safety chain because there would be a vintage restoration underneath and I didn't want to risk the heater falling off. Specifications call for a 35 amp circuit breaker; I set it to 30 amps. The heater has two settings: 3000 watts and 6000 watts. A 30 amp switch at 240 volts can handle 7200 watts. When it comes to technical performance, the

Doesn't Heat 240 SF Garage

The result is that my 240 SF Partially Insulated Garage does not heat. I have read several reviews saying this heater works great. Several reviews have stated that garages over 500 feet are heated. Maybe those reviews came from Florida, not New York. Well, I can tell it's ok, the fan blows warm air, but this heater will never get my small 25-degree, 240SF garage to 50 degrees. I kept it for 2 hours, no difference. I could still see my breath. I turned it off overnight and tried again the next…

Heater works great as advertised

Heater works great as advertised. I fixed it to the ceiling and connected it to the switchboard. On an 11 degree day it could sustain 70° in a semi-insulated two car garage, but I used an 80,000 BTU torpedo heater first to get the temperature up. In most reviews some people use 10 gauge wire with a 30 amp 2 pole switch and they say it works fine but I wasn't sure so I followed the instructions and got the required 8 gauge wire and installed a 35-A 2-pole switch. . I then checked to see if I had

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Off fashion

This heater works very well. I chose not to connect the heater directly to the panel. I decided to buy a 10-3 power cord and fit a 30 amp lockable plug to it. I bought ok. 10 feet of 3/4 conduit and 10-2 wire (black, white, ground) routed to box with 30 amp outlet and cover in place. I used a 30 amp (240 volt) double pole switch because the heater can draw 3000 watts low and 6000 watts high. The instructions are terrible and also suggest a 35 amp switch (the instructions say to use it with 10-2

Great replacement for dual tank propane heater

I've been fine so far. I have a 20' x 20' garage with 11' ceilings that is only partially insulated. (mostly no insulation) I've only used it in the low 30's so far but it works as I would expect. After about an hour it gets so warm in the room that I don't need a jacket. After about two hours, the built-in thermostat will start to cycle on and off. It replaces a dual tank propane heater that was listed at a maximum output of 30,000 Btu. I wouldn't normally drive that far because it uses too…

Just installed - happy so far

I installed this in my oversized 2 car (24' x 24') garage over the weekend. The door is insulated, the walls appear to be the same but the ceiling is not (a future project). I used wire 8-2 on a 30A double switch. I have yet to install the breaker box so I can more conveniently turn it off completely near the heater. With the shutdown box, I have just under $100 for components to install. Aside from running the cable, installation is straightforward and straightforward, although instructions…

  • Decent performance

  • Blunt hardware

This has been a great heater for my garage and here are some details on a unit that I've had a hard time finding elsewhere. (I paid about $168) 1) Each shade can be moved independently. 2) The fins will get warm in use but not too hot to be moved by hand when the unit is set at 6000w. 3) It will NOT get hot. behind the unit, although I believe the instructions call for 4 inches behind the unit. (Also, the instructions say it has to be at least 8 feet off the ground! - I didn't get it. I have…
