Review on ๐Ÿ”ฅ Dr. Heater DR966 240V Hardwired Shop Garage Commercial Heater, 3000W/6000W by Cindy Roffelsen

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Highly recommended. Stable, durable, good quality, I attach a photo, do it yourself.

This heater works very well. I chose not to connect the heater directly to the panel. I decided to buy a 10-3 power cord and fit a 30 amp lockable plug to it. I bought ok. 10 feet of 3/4 conduit and 10-2 wire (black, white, ground) routed to box with 30 amp outlet and cover in place. I used a 30 amp (240 volt) double pole switch because the heater can draw 3000 watts low and 6000 watts high. The instructions are terrible and also suggest a 35 amp switch (the instructions say to use it with 10-2 wire) which requires the thicker and more expensive 8-2 wire. (According to the NEC book for electricians). I chose the 30 amp switch and 10-2 wire as recommended by everyone who has installed this heater before. I haven't had any false alarms from the breaker either and everything works as it should. This heater made my garage comfortable at 70-75 degrees while the outside temperature was a cold 30 degrees. I bought all the accessories from a big store and spent about $70. I've added photos so you can do it yourself too. On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the most difficult installation) I would rate the installation itself a 4 but if you have never had electrical experience I highly recommend a certified electrician due to the 240 volts.
