Removing the transmission pulley from the lawnmower, pliers are required to remove the snap ring. I needed a 90 degree tip to make it look like they would work. After putting on the 90 degree tip, I fumbled for 20 minutes in an awkward position (cramped space) for my hand, but I couldn't slide the tips of the pen into the holes of the retaining rings. I ended up pulling the ring out with needle nose pliers. Once outside, I found that the tips of these pliers were larger than the holes on the locking ring. I have no experience with snap rings but it seems to me that the holes will be the standard size for rings this plier is used on. I had to take a rotary tool and grind the ends of the pin to fit.
