I wanted to install an M.2 2242 SSD in the third slot of an Alienware laptop. I could only find one brand from Sabrent that would fit (yes the 2230 does, but you need an oversized screen to screw into that storage hole). 2242 was the exact size for this laptop, but the double-sided SSD card increased the insertion point a bit. I used the smallest of the brackets in this kit to support the other end of the 2242 SSD. Sure, it was expensive, but I was able to fit a 1TB M.2 2242 into an empty slot without spending $25 on a dedicated heat shield cutout for the M.2 2230. Joyful!
