Well it fit in that space but I had to force it. However, the propellers are misaligned and now it just hangs in the tower. Now I have to hold the icy frame of the box with pliers, otherwise it just slides in when inserting the SSD and then I lose it. Other than that, I use cloning and imaging software on my Windows 10 computer and it works. I can't complain too loud. I could drill some new holes but then I'd have to take the whole MB out to avoid getting metal shavings on it. I wouldn't buy it again. That's enough for now, but the next MB I buy will have USB 3. And I'm going to use one of those standalone devices.
