Review on ๐Ÿ’จ DEWALT Compact Jobsite Blower DCE100B by Gabriel Rosenberg

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Nice little tool but what a power hunger

I bought this compact blower for three reasons: it's small and cordless, it's moderately powerful, and I already have 20 volt rechargeable batteries (bought with the DeWalt -Drill). Here is my assessment according to these criteria: This blower cannot be more comfortable. It sits on a small shelf near the garage door and is ready to use (since I keep the battery charged). In terms of performance, I was looking for a blower that would clean up the leaf litter I get all summer in my heavily wooded yard without blowing away the mulch I put in where grass doesn't grow. I had no illusions that this fan would be universal. I have a Stihl backpack gas model that has 756 cfm of airflow (compared to 100 cfm of this blower) for moving foliage in the fall and winter. At this time of year the DeWalt compact serves my needs well (e.g. cleans dark brown mulch and blows off patio, driveway and garage floors). Obviously I've described a product that deserves five stars so far, so why only three stars? Unfortunately, I was pretty naรฏve to think that 20 volt batteries, which work great with my drill, will also work fine with this blower. On first use I discharged my two 1.5Ah batteries in about 11 minutes. Unfortunately, considering that this compact blower doesn't have much power and therefore takes longer to get the job done, that's not enough. I chose not to return it and bought larger batteries (two 5Ah) with charger as I would benefit from a longer charge on my DeWalt hedge trimmer. I'm happy with the results (I get 20-23 minutes per battery depending on the speed chosen) but given the cost of the blower, 5Ah batteries and charger it's not cost effective. I would start over and look to other brands to find a small blower, although I believe in the reliability of DeWalt tools. Arsenal or if you mean a very limited usage time. If you need more time and need to buy batteries, note that the relevant starter kit seems to offer 3Ah batteries, which still only give 20-23 minutes of total run time for the two batteries, so I spent a bit more for 5Ah, and in this one time doubled.
