I thought other reviewers were wrong when they said it might damage wood surfaces. I thought they must have used it upside down. But they are right. I used them for a cup of coffee and mineral water and haven't had them for a long time. The other day I went to polish the kitchen table and saw that the indentation on the top had gone over the flat side to the countertop. I don't know how or if I can take it off. See photo. The damage is just over 4 light reflections. And no, I didn't use the stand upside down. The smooth, flat side goes down and the ledge/edge side goes up to catch beverage condensate. I will not buy again.
