Review on Desktop Processor: Intel Core i5 6500 3.20 GHz Quad Core Skylake, Socket LGA 1151, 6MB Cache by Ada Marciniak ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent product, the best quality.

Overclocked i5 6400 to 4.59ghz m/n: Asrock z170pro4 All I did was install the latest driver from the Asrock website "3.00 Support Sky OC". From the BIOS I set the constant voltage to 1.35v., and the frequency to the BCLK multiplier of 170mhz. The idle temperature is 36C (28C in stock), under load, stress tests warmed up to 68C (34C in stock), throttling was not turned on, it is worth considering that the CPU operating mode is up to 71C (throttling is then turned on). The fan speed on the tower is limited to 1500rpm, out of 2022rpm possible (due to the noisy cooler, I set the "silence" mode in the BIOS) to the Zalman CNPS10X PERFORMA/+ cooler. I didn’t drive further, during stress tests, the temperature margin before throttling is only 3 degrees (it warms up to 68C) When assembling a PC, the emphasis was on the latest technologies, the possibility of a future upgrade, so I took a good m / n, ddr4, and the younger i5 6400 for overclocking, after which it differs little from the i5 6600k (see the difference in shortcomings). I am satisfied with the assembly, I recommend.

Pros
  • Price-performance, the possibility of overclocking is not K version. i5 6400 skylake review
Cons
  • I'm not critical, but still. During acceleration: The temperature sensor on each of the cores does not work. Not all M / P are suitable for overclocking. Embedded video is disabled AVX instructions slow down (a rare thing used for specific tasks) Also, the power-saving functions on the processor do not work. Measurements of electricity consumption. energy at the input to the system unit (Stock: idle 50w, CPU load 70w; Overclocked 4.59ghz: idle 74w, CPU load 104w), even without these functions the result is excellent, considering that overclocking is 70%! from the face value, and this is 4 cores at 4.59ghz (for comparison, my old PC, where there is a single-core stump4 2.6ghz, the system unit consumes 120w in idle time)

Got pros: in one stream better than similar AMD Cons: Absolutely not scalable across cores, in applications with active use of memory plugs. In general, the last century
