I have had a Honda CRV for 10 years. My key fob got dusty this week and the keyhole in the driver's door stopped working about a year ago. My key fob stopped working because the metal pin/arms fell off where the battery is. If your key fob has stopped working, check that all of the metal pins are intact. If you have hands you could probably re-solder them. I removed the circuit board from my old key fob and put it in the new one. The rubber surrounding the chipboard didn't quite match this new key fob perfectly, but it was enough to align the battery, chip, and buttons so they would work and stay closed. No programming or anything else because the chip card remains the same. I don't need to cut the key since I'm using the Valet Key. I gave 4 starts (not 5) because the tiny screw at the base of the key is almost impossible to get out. I've used every tool in my arsenal to try and unscrew this thing. I was able to pry back the edges very slowly using a few different flathead screwdrivers (see image). I am satisfied with the product. I've been able to disable my car security system and get the locks working again without having to go to the dealership and spend a fortune on a new key fob.
