Review on Enhance Your Navigation Experience with the Garmin 18x LVC GPS Navigator Unit by Jason Sundstrom

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great for GPS NTP with own source.

Closes securely out of window but is weatherproof for outdoor installation. A good choice for home-made GPS-synchronized NTP (Network Time Protocol) clocks on a budget. Just find a suitable spot to mount it, preferably on a small outdoor mount. Run a cable around your house, solder a DB9 serial connector, set it up and connect it to the server. The LVC model, unlike other 18x versions, provides a pulse-per-second signal for accurate time. An 18x LVC is included and that's it - you'll need to check online for firmware updates, software and guides. Of course you need to be a geek with soldering skills and understand NTP. But if you're one of them, my 18x LVC regulates my NTP home server better than the $1000 CDMA clock radios I use at work on eBay. Can't beat it
