Updated Review - Cute fix for our cat!

I am checking this before my cat has used it but so far so good! I did what others said, used a hacksaw and just cut my door off. It wasn't easy or fun, but it meant I didn't have to buy anything expensive ($11 for a decent puzzle) and I had it fully installed in half an hour. This is perfect for letting my cat, but not my dogs, go into the basement so he can use his litter box. The quality of the item itself corresponds to its intended use. I don't recommend following the pattern exactly. You can tell from the photos that I really couldn't do it with a jigsaw puzzle. I sketched the template myself and just cut the hole a bit smaller. It would have made more sense to simply sketch the object itself, but I didn't do this for fear of cropping it too closely. It would be great if the company updated their template and printed on something other than standard printer paper. It's almost pointless trying to sketch the template with thin printer paper. I understand it's hurting margins, but it's quite an expensive product, so I really think it's the least they can do. But in the end the product was otherwise very easy to install. I will update it after it finds some use but for now the adhesive strips are holding up great and seem to be sufficient. UPDATE: We've been using this for about a month and it's really great! I love it and our cat likes it very much. The little pup we have doesn't fit through either, thank goodness, so no problem! I recommend this product to cat owners! UPDATE 2: Yes, so the other reviews are 100% correct - the adhesive strips don't stick and won't stick over time. Not recommended to rely on which is disappointing as this item is a bit pricey for what it is. Now I use the command bars to keep this in place. It's not an unsolvable problem, but given the price of this item, it's annoying.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
