Review on PetSafe Efficient Extreme Weather Aluminum by Sara Adams

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The installation is not for wimps and not for cold regions.

Unless you have a standard exterior door, installing this thing is a nightmare. The instructions are less than desirable and the plastic bolts were not a good design idea. However, it protects against the effects of the weather, and my cats are very reluctant to go outside because of the dark central valve. I would suggest using a transparent material so the cats can see what's on the other side. I've spent most of the last two days convincing them that they can hop on and off. In our weather, the plastic is very hard and cats have a hard time getting through it. (After a month) Another suggestion. Be sure to measure your shoulder height for easy entry. I didn't raise mine high enough and will have to reinstall it after the winter. This can make entry and exit easier. I repeat. If you live in cold weather, this probably isn't the door for you. The plastic becomes very stiff and prevents cats from pushing it through three layers and also has trouble pushing the seal back. I have to manually close the internal valve so that it is held in place with a magnet. Once sealed, it protects against the wind. I'll tinker with it a bit when the weather warms up again and see if I can find a hard plastic solution.
