Review on Strathmore 567 7 Softcover Journal Sheets by Sasha Hsiao

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good quality but needs better protective packaging

I recently started a 365 drawing contest to improve my art and this is a journal I plan to take with me on my travels. I bought them mainly because the artist I admire admires them, but I won't lie, I was a little concerned. When I received it I saw that there was no protective packaging, it was just accidentally thrown in the box. Some of the corners of the paper were slightly curled and the cover showed some minor wear. It wasn't terrible by any means, but I can see how some people can bend and damage products. As for the paper itself, I like it. It is very etude, smooth, with a slight touch of texture, which doesn't bother me because I work with detailed lines. It can withstand a lot of water without rolling, although it will flex a little. If you tape the paper or get used to it somehow, this shouldn't be a problem. I've only worked with watercolors, gouache and colored pencils so far and it works great with them. I've seen in videos where the alcohol markers bleed a bit, but I can't say that's 100% the case because I don't have or use them, so I can't confirm. Despite this, the paper is of excellent quality, just wish it had been better packaged.
