Excellent filter. Until recently, our water source was an unprotected source that became polluted by surface runoff whenever it rained. We have not had any digestive issues related to the water quality while using this filter. A few months ago we properly protected the spring with a spring box and sediment catcher, but we continue to use a filter just in case. Filters are fragile, so don't be clumsy or clumsy when installing or cleaning. To clean, simply wipe with a fibrous sponge that has never been used with soap. Soap contamination will taste awful. We use this filter in a simple two bucket water system that I made out of two buckets. The bottom bucket is a clean water dispenser made by making a spigot on the side and cutting a hole in the center of the lid. The top bucket has a hole drilled in the middle of the bottom one. Insert the filter into the hole, making sure you place a washer between the filter base and the bucket. Putting a washer between the wing nut and the bucket will cause your filter to leak. Do not overtighten or the filter will break. I suspect the negative reviews are from people who haven't figured out how to install a washing machine. I've been using this filter for many years now and for the price you won't find a better filter.
