This is a set of two support clips. I used them for extra safety when working on my car's engine. Gas struts used on range hoods wear out over time and if one of them is weak the hood can slowly lower on you. They can also be used on low throttle hatchbacks and trunks until you find a replacement. Unlike other brands, the handle is aluminum, not plastic, and it won't break. Blue anodized aluminum. It looks like the screw is brass so as not to damage the lift rod. The rounded slot fits up to 1/2 inch diameter lift rods and works with all smaller diameters with a simple turn of the screw. Each clip comes with a 6" neon yellow security flag that reads "Remove Clip Before Closing". very good idea. They're also handy to keep in the trunk of a car, especially in winter when a hood lifter fails and the hood won't lift in the cold.
