I kept large cichlid tanks (90 gallon and 75 gallon) 5 years ago and then gave up the hobby. Now I'm back on a much smaller scale with 3 gallon acrylic nano tanks. Unless you're keeping cold-water fish like goldfish, which can thrive in room temperature water, you still need to heat these little nano tanks, so you need to know what the water temperature is. 5 or more years ago, the methods used by aquarists to track water temperature were primitive by today's standards. Sure, they had digital back then, but it was expensive and a lot cheaper to buy these fancy "stick-on" thermometers, which were often inaccurate, to say the least. After reading the reviews and shopping, I chose the AQUANEAT Digital Aquarium Thermometer and was satisfied. Since I needed at least three at a time, I decided to take advantage of the discounts offered when buying in bulk. For $16.89 I was able to buy six thermometers with six batteries. Good. I have to admit, I had two reasons for buying a six. In the expectation of further aquariums in the future And in the expectation that the quality might be so-so and I would have one or the other tank broken and need a replacement immediately. To my great surprise, I opened the first three. I have used them in aquariums and for 3 months they have been working perfectly and accurately. I am very satisfied with this product. It's easy to use and install, it "disappears" in your aquarium, it's so unobtrusive. The digital display is also nice and small. With the help of a small suction cup, it sticks to the wall of your aquarium and also "disappears" because it is also very unobtrusive and hardly noticeable. The digital display itself is easy to read at a glance. You do NOT have to stick the display on the tank. The wiring that comes with it is quite long as I actually placed one of my displays in a location away from the tank so it's not even 'on' the tank. I'm not saying six feet or so, but this particular tank sits on the desk and I've placed the digital display so that it's not visible on my desk, but I can always pick it up and look at it. I would like. Good. So far I have to say. SIX digital thermometers with SIX batteries INCLUDED, work so well. At least in the first 3 months of use. All for $16.89 plus free shipping. do math. I paid $2.82 for THERMOMETER with battery. Come on, don't get off with a stick! AQUANEAT Aquarium Digital Thermometer Fish Tank Aquatic Reptile Terrarium FREE Extra Batteries (6 Packs)
