Review on Super Lube 51600 Multi Purpose Non Aerosol by Justin Goff

Do not use a spray nozzle!

I use various Super Lube products on a regular basis. I like them, their lubes work well. Including this oil. However, what doesn't work well is the spray nozzle that comes with that gallon of oil. I recommend NOT using a spray nozzle with this quart of oil. Don't even mount it on a bottle because a liter of oil will fall down when you use it and you just hold a spray nozzle in your hand, look down and watch the oil bottle hit the ground, fall on its side and start , they dump its contents onto the surface beneath you. This happened to me the second time I used this product. Not once, but twice. The first time it fell off I just thought it was because I screwed it on the wrong way or something. But when it fell off again less than a minute after putting it back together, I realized the problem wasn't my inability to hold the two components together properly, but rather my inability to hold the two components together the way they were supposed to be. .The male thread on the liter bottle has a finer pitch than the female thread on the atomizer, they do not match. Therefore, screwing the nozzle onto the bottle doesn't hold it together really well, making it easy to separate the two parts, the oil bottle and the nozzle. Luckily I was outside when my bottle fell off so the 8 or so ounces of oil that spilled just soaked into the dirt and driveway I was on. Falling indoors would be much more troublesome. In addition, the spray nozzle tip has two spray modes to choose from: flow and spray. When using a sprayer, oil flowed from the tip in a stream with both options. The spray setting worked the same as the flow setting. One good thing I learned from my not-so-great experience with this faulty product is that the oil seems to work fairly well to rejuvenate old and faded exterior plastic parts on cars. As I wiped off the oil splatter on the car I was working on when the bottle fell off the syringe, I found that the faded black plastic on the side steps looked almost new. I thought it was cool. My customers also liked the updated look of the plastic. I just rubbed some of this on the outside black plastic trim of my 2001 Dodge truck and it looks a lot better now. The oil is good, the injector is not.

Pros
  • Reduces friction and wear
Cons
  • Good, but not great
