I bought a house with a chimney that had the gas supply cut off. Had the fireplace gas line reconnected and within two hours of using it, a row of tiles appeared just above the hole. It turned out that the mastic was applied directly to the steel firebox. I read on the blog that this product was recommended to him for the same problem. Contacted Rutland to see if this would work for my problem and they emailed me instructions on how to cure the cement and tile. Applying was a two person job for me as it was smoother than I expected but overall easy to use. My husband held the tiles in place while I applied tape to hold the tiles in place until they were secure. After two days we removed the tape and cured it. Used the fireplace for about 8 hours straight and the tile didn't move. I highly recommend this product. Rutland's customer support team responds quickly to emails.
