I was trying to find a well made duplex MMDVM board and spent over a week looking, there were hundreds of them on a popular auction site, some at half price, but these boards looked cheap and came with no specs or instructions. I didn't want to waste my time waiting for the board from China for weeks and buying something that might not work. This board works pretty well with the Pi 3 B+, which I recommend using as it has enough power to handle anything. After updating the firmware on this board, you can easily do it without soldering anything. Take the alligator clip and file the teeth flat on one side of the clip, then for the other side of the clip take heat shrink tubing and tighten and heat. Do this 2 or 3 times. (Duct tape should work too) Of course, take a paper clip and clip it onto the circuit board where the flash jumper traces are. This is way better than soldering. Download it, use SSH to issue firmware update commands, turn off the device, remove the clip and turn it back on. Did!
