The product was missing a mounting screw so I couldn't use the base but I tested it hand held before deciding to return it. It was plug-n-play on LINUX, but the focal length was too short for my purposes. This camera must be within approximately 3 inches of the object you wish to view. It cannot be set to "infinity" as suggested in the product description. The increase is roughly in line with the announcement. Fit and finish are quite good.
