Review on Home Reusable Furnace Filter 20X30X1 by John Bennett

Avoid. I say this as a K&N fan

After a few months and a few cleanings I can say I don't like this filter. I like this idea, it just doesn't work for several reasons. 1- Loose fit + filter weight. As many other reviews say, the filter is too loose. It has enough free space to move when the air conditioning is switched on and off. This will cause the intake port cover to disengage from one of its latches and bang up and down over the course of a day/week/month until the cover is semi-loose. 2- Airflow. Even new, I could feel it making a hoarse noise as it tried to force air through it. This problem only gets worse with each day of use as it gets clogged with duct tape. 3- Cleaning. The solution is expensive and not available locally. I've found that even after thorough cleaning, I try to avoid pressure/blasting. It doesn't clean it completely. It seems to take at least a full day to dry, even in the summer. You must have an alternate filter to work during the long drying phase. Then return to the lower air duct as described in problem 2. I tried well. I wanted to like that and rinse and repeat. Save money, increase productivity. It just wasted my money. I would avoid

Pros
  • SAVE MONEY: Save $30 a year over disposable filters
Cons
  • Could have gone with a newer model
