Although not all parts are the same it was a lot cheaper than the popular brand, easy to install and works well. I couldn't buy individual parts cheaper than this kit. It comes with everything you need except a drill, knife and rivet gun (or screwdriver and pliers), including stainless steel screws/bolts and black rivets with washers. The rivets will not easily fit into a 3/16" or #11 drilled hole, which is probably a good thing as it provides a snug fit. Except for a slightly larger diameter and spacer, the rivets provided are nearly identical to those provided I bought from Revain at the same time. The connecting ring is made of the same plastic as the grommets, not steel. The head of the rivet gun does not fit into the zigzag rivet rod. I put a cylindrical metal gasket on the rivet nail, which allowed me to use the rivet gun (see photo). A similar gasket can easily be made from a BIC handle or a small piece of copper or brass tubing. Or you can use a screwdriver blade as a spacer between the rivet and the rivet gun. I put silicone sealant under the rivet heads, under each tab and underneath applied to the zigzag bar.I also added small elastic cords at each end between the grommets of the pads and de Added n small carabiners to keep the cable taut and provide some flexibility. I added another mini SS carabiner (from WalMart) to one end of the rope where it attaches to the ring. That way I can easily unhook it and tie it with the rope if needed. Tie the rope to the ring with a bowline, an improved clinch, or a simple knot. I also set fire to the frayed ends of the rope to prevent further unraveling.
