I have had this ladder on other trucks. When my students asked about it on my F-150 FX4, I told them it was my "old master ladder". An hour later I saw them using it instead of jumping in the back of a truck. I installed it following the instructions on the left side of the back door. It worked fine but moved into the lane next to the truck. When I installed it on my Dodge 3/4 ton Big Horn Edition I placed it on the right side of the tailgate so it would face the pavement. I think it's safer. I didn't like a few things about the old version on my Ford. I was very pleased to see on this new one that they must not have liked these things either because every single one of them has been fixed and improved. That doesn't make it an entirely new product, but it does make it better. Just as high off the ground as my tailgate (standard height, but the off-road pack increases the ride height). I used to have to turn around and jump back onto the gate, then flip my butt and get my feet under me, then stand up. Now all I have to do is unbuckle the seat belt, unfold the ladder and climb in. Much gentler on this old man's body and much more dignified!
