Auto white balance and exposure results in extremely dark and strange blue-green video. Even when I try to change these settings manually, I don't get anything that looks anywhere near as good as my cheap Logitech webcam, and I'm using the $50 lens that Arducam sells here, so I guess it does should not be the limiting factor. You can't manually change the camera's frame rate because each resolution has its own hard-coded frame rate that you must use, and higher resolution settings are extremely grainy and noisy. Different resolutions actually crop different parts of the sensor for some reason, so 1920x1080 only shows vignetting at the bottom of the image, while 2560x1440 only shows vignetting at the top. Overall poor experience compared to using the HQ camera module on a Raspberry Pi (which is still very annoying that you can't manually control the ISO, gain and shutter speed without overriding or compensating for what you're trying to do!)
