Durable, but does not tolerate high humidity very well.

Durabasics replacement filters are described as "made of tough material for maximum structural integrity when wet". That's an apt description, especially when compared to FilterBuy's flimsy replacement filters. However, the material Durabasics uses to maintain stiffness makes it far less effective as humidity increases. The thickness of the filter is closer to OEM filters and much thinner than FilterBuy filters. It looks quite thin and sits quite loosely in the humidifier. It's stiffer and seems to last longer than OEM filters or filter buy filters. When using OEM filters or Filterbuy filters, I typically use a humidifier with a minimum fan speed sufficient to achieve 40-45% humidity. If I increase the fan speed to medium or high, I can reach the 50% to 60% range. With these Durabasics filters, the low setting only achieves 30-35% humidity. At medium or high speeds I can get to 40% humidity. I even tried double folding the filters as they are quite thin. This resulted in 45% humidity at high fan speeds. It's not moist enough for my needs (or the needs of my plants). Turning on the humidifier fan at high speed consumes more power and makes it much louder. All in all, I won't be using these filters again as they don't really humidify the air enough. Tap water. I've also tried Honeywell OEM filters, non-OEM filters from FilterBuy, and a Revain filter that's sold as OEM but is actually made by Kaz (not sure if they're still available).
