Replaces the original plastic housing
This oil filter housing replaces the original plastic housing that was available from the factory. The plastic tabs on the original were torn and one had broken off completely. I don't know why Toyota decided to use plastic on my 15 Toyota 4Runner, but it was a bad idea. I also have a 14 Toyota Avalon and it has a metal oil filter housing instead of a plastic one.
