So the blocks raise the tailgate on our '96 XJ Cherokee just fine, but the fit and quality of the strut ends was terrible. In general, be prepared to struggle with clips on the ends. By the way, I'm not new. I've installed about a dozen different types of lifts of this type on back doors, tool boxes and truck decklids, including an earlier set on our venerable Cherokee. I'm also a fairly experienced shade tree mechanic; I'm not afraid of a head gasket in a push rod engine and I've done more than a few engine changes. So if it bothers me, it's not the best indicator of quality. They seem to have worked in the end but the plastic stoppers are very poor quality and I don't expect them to last very long. I think I'll say step up and skip it. I know if I have to replace them I will not buy this brand again.
