Review on πŸ”΄ Red Sanitaire Tradition Commercial Vacuum, SC886F, Bagged Upright (EURSC886E) by Borris Mcgee

Best Commercial Vacuum Cleaner

It's not really that hard. I weighed it and it weighed 14 pounds with the cord on the bottom as it is in use. Most good vacuum cleaners are equally heavy or heavier. The handle is solid and I regularly grab the handle rather than my head like some cheap vacuums require. This vacuum cleaner kicks Kirby's butt because it weighs more, costs more, and isn't as easy to maintain. Sanitaire makes lighter weight vacuums which I think are superior to the Orecks so avoid these pseudo-commercial devices, get a real vacuum for less. Update: After almost a year of use, I'm still happy with this vacuum cleaner, but sometimes the bag gets smelly while vacuuming and I have to wash it. I don't like looking for paper bags but I think the benefit of no dust when emptying and no smell of dog hair will make me buy a paper bag sanitary bag, same vacuum cleaner just with a different model number. Of course I do a lot of carpet cleaning and vacuuming, so it can't apply to lesser use. Update: after 2 years of use it still looks and works great. The chrome plate stays bright. I replaced the motor as I had been working on a damaged fan blade for a long time and it wobbled cost me 45.00. I also changed the bags to 25.00 so I can now use paper style paper bags from Eureka F&G. It's nice to have parts. People are still talking about what a good job he is doing. Update: 3 1/2 years later I'm replacing it. Its 2nd motor fails (poor design, it fails because of the rivets they vibrate). The handle doesn't stay put. The hinge on the handle broke and I secured it with a screw, but it creaks when you push it back and forth. The pressure clip holding the cable broke twice and now the cable is sealed with tape (the pressure clip is poorly designed and fails quickly). My spare bag has a bad zipper (don't buy if the zipper doesn't have metal prongs). Its cover attached to the spring has lost the springs which I have regularly replaced. In fact, there's nothing that works properly in it anymore, and a lot of the industrial features just seem like low-tech cheap to me now. I just replaced it with a 6.0 amp Hoover C1431-010 Guardsman commercial vacuum. The vacuum is cheaper and appears to have the same or better suction power despite being 1 amp less. It has some better design options (like a big front cable holder instead of side wraps, foot leveling, better cables with less chance of twisting), but we'll see how it holds up.

Pros
  • Unique maintenance features like tool-free brush roll and belt changes, Quick KleenTM air chamber and metal clip bag release system make this commercial vacuum cleaner easy to use and maintain.
Cons
  • Good but not great
