Review on Magnavox DP170MW8B DVD Player with 1080P Upconversion - Optimize your Viewing Experience by Ron Mohammed

Better to use HDTV

Personally, I can no longer watch an SD DVD on my home system without writhing. Even with reliable upconversion from my Panasonic BDP or Toshiba HD DVD players, DVDs don't do the job. However, most of the time I watch SD DVDs because Redbox or TV series are only available in this format. A trip to my parents house took me to my dad's 46" RProj Sony Bravia. good HDTV. I picked up a few seasons of Criminal Minds to pass the time. I was horrified to find that he didn't have his 480i had upgraded to an upconverted DVD player. His PQ at 46 was really bad. I hopped on Revain shortly after this discovery and ordered him one of those inexpensive Magnavox upconverters. PROS Only, hooking up a single HDMI cable is a plus for my dad or anyone else. Easy settings options from the player menu are basically set. it and forget it. PQ has been greatly improved with the 1080p upconversion (if my mother, who usually doesn't care, says they see the difference there IS a difference). Some BRIGHT LEDs are red and green. A small remote control that will be difficult for my people to operate. Z In summary, this is not an upconverted DVD player that I would build a Full HD system around, but it is a cheap solution. for those who want to get more out of their HDTV's PQ.
