I love the size of these knives! The pen was definitely bigger than I expected but ok for my husband. I like that they can be used for more than one thing. I can use a knife to spread mayonnaise on the sandwich, then slice the tomatoes and cut the sandwich without taking out another knife. But the reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that the serrated part doesn't extend far enough the length of the knife, so you have to tilt it up more to cut through a sandwich or tomatoes. I also know what it says about the butter spreader but I have two others that I have used and had to replace, I use them for almost everything, slicing fruit, scooping peanut butter and jelly, it's a great kitchen tool!
