These steps can be used fully extended as shown in this image. Our old gold had no problem with that. She also surprisingly doesn't try to jump around them and go down. They are super light. The tailgate of our Ford Ranger does not open fully. The upper steps go a little under the door. We only protect them where we place them. We had no issues with slipping, but we were able to easily add a safety hook to attach to the one that came with the kit. Good texture for paw grip. These steps need to be presented to the public more broadly since there are so many trucks on the roads these days (and lots of big dogs that get joint problems if they jump too far). I can't say enough good things about them! Thanks very much!
