For GPS nurses, locators and accessories

I only wear a watch to work and I can't think of a better watch for a nurse. The battery lasts over a month without GPS. "If you don't want to use ultra-precise GPS, then why buy a Garmin," you ask?1. The pedometer is very reliable. I've used the watch with both the GPS off and on when I've been running in circles and the pedometer manages to calculate the same distance as the GPS. Sure, I can't follow a route on the Garmin Connect app without GPS enabled, but I don't care if I'm running a loop. 2. Display "always on". You don't have to lift your wrist much — no more — to turn on the display. This is very important to me as I need to look at the display when my hands are in an odd position while helping the patient.3. The digital clock displays military (or medical, as you prefer) time. My Samsung Galaxy watch is not working. Tsk tsk Samsung.4. The alarm is easily accessible and I can set multiple alarms. A spontaneous "timer" is just three taps of a small button of a running man. (This will start your "run around the house" countdown, which you can stop once you've completed your timing task.) I didn't find a real timer on this Garmin.5. As I mentioned above, the battery life lasts forever. Seriously 6-8 weeks is normal. I even lasted 3 months once. It's just crazy. Samsung, tsk, works less than a day. I won't go into all the great features that I don't use regularly because I feel like I can't do them justice. But if you want, this watch also shows email, text messages and weather alerts via Bluetooth, has a very cool GPS that quickly shows a run on your phone, and a great app for tracking your sleep. I've used all the features in the past, but I find it too distracting at work to be notified every time spam hits my inbox. And while these watches are comfortable enough, sleeping with a watch just isn't my type. So here is my long awaited review of this very useful watch tool.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Lots of stuff
